Officers of the Nigerian Army and the Directorate of State Security (DSS) arrested four suspected members of Boko Haram in Kano yesterday in connection with the recent multiple female suicide bombings that rocked the state capital in two days.

Credible security sources in both establishments reported that the insurgents were picked up in the course of different operations in Hotoro General Area and in Mariri General Area of Kumbotso Local Government Council of the state. It was gathered that among those arrested was a 70-year-old man, whose name was simply given as Ibrahim. The sources stated that the remaining Boko Haram members arrested in the course of the operations were Bello, Nura and Zakari.

The recent development in the state whereby female suicide bombers are being recruited by the Boko haram sect, called for scaling up of the state security measures.

The Eid-el Fitri celebration was not fully enjoyed by the muslims in the state as people were being cautious of the current security issues.
