Obi Emelonye, Nollywood producer and director, was on Monday evening arrested and questioned by security agents in Ikeja, Lagos.

The prolific director known for his two movies, Mirror Boy and Last Flight to Abuja, revealed this on his Facebook page at around 9 p.m. on Monday evening.

Speaking to PREMIUM TIMES, his publicist, BigSam Media, confirmed that Mr. Emelonye was picked by the police officers attached to the Lagos State secretariat; but was released later.

“He has been released. He wasn’t actually arrested, they just took him to the station for a few questions”, he told PREMIUM TIMES on Phone.

According to Mr. Emelonye, he, and his movie crew from the United Kingdom, was arrested for aerial filming of the popular Ikeja City Mall and other parts of Ikeja with remote controlled helicopter.

Obi Emelonye’s latest movie, Onye Ozi, won “Achievement in Soundtrack” at the just concluded 2014 AMAA awards. What probably could a dude as good as he had been arrested for?
