AGN Members List Major Reasons Ibinabo Fiberesima Should Be Re-elected as the Guild’s President

By on July 23, 2014

In contrast to Clarion Chukwura-Abiola’s reasons for Ibinabo’s unfitness for AGN’s  president, the prominent members of the guild across the existing state chapters of the guild have openly declared that it will be a ‘no contest’ as they all want the River State-born actress, former beauty queen and show promoter to continue in office for another two years. They want Ibinabo whom they all agree has a penchant for doing the impossible, back in office.

  1. They want the personable, humble and humane daughter of the Niger Delta who they also said has transformed the guild to become the envy of all other guilds in the creative industry, to consolidate on her many achievements. IB, as Ibinabo is simply called, says she is humbled by the charge and the confidence reposed in her ability. She also promised that like she did in 2012, she will ‘God helping’ deliver on every campaign promise.
  2. As I speak, work has advanced on the bill to establish the Motion Picture Practitioners Council of Nigeria (MOPPICON). Mr. President has asked to be briefed on how best we can tackle the issue of piracy in the creative industry because I complained that most people who give us jobs as actors are leaving the business because of the activities of pirates. He has asked to be briefed on how best to strengthen the regulatory agencies for service delivery. He has also contributed tremendously to the AGN benevolence fund.
  3. We recently disbursed funds to some ailing members of the guild and some other practitioners. You heard as Prince James Uche who has been bedridden for months, Uncle Larry Williams, Romanus Amuta a.k.a Natty and the movie director Chike Bryan who needed funds for kidney transplant were full of gratitude to President Jonathan for the medical support. So it was good we visited the President and I have no regrets at all.
  4. In 2012, they said I was a woman and can’t handle the wahala in the guild but somehow we have shown that na woman sabi make things happen. So we are prepared to make things happen in the next two years. We have to further the work we started with the health and insurance plan for members and we want to finish work on membership and a database for AGN.
  5. We are working with our affiliates on introducing a standard contract for members. So it is not about us, but about our members who want us back to continue to serve them.
  6. I am a peace loving person. I am always the one who tries to reach out but there is nothing I can do if the other party clenches their fist. But I can assure you that AGN is one and it is moving on. I will continue to appeal to all those who have taken a back seat to come back so that we can reason together and build a virile guild.
  7. Well, this is what I signed for when I decided that I was going to run for the Presidency of the AGN. I knew it was going to demand 110 percent commitment. But I was prepared to give it my time because I wanted to make a difference and I am happy with what we have been able to achieve so far even though there is still a lot of ground to cover.
