Di’Ja is a Sierra Leonian/Nigerian/Lebanese artist who got her start when she entered a music contest, ‘The Beat Music Awards’,  hosted by The Beat 94.5 , where she won a production deal with RockSTAR Music Corp.

She entered the studio and teamed up with an award winning hit-making team of producers–Adam H., The BananaToons, and SA Trackworks (who’s credits collectively include Jessica Simpson, The Corrs, Kelly Rowland, George Clinton, Elise Estrada, LiveOnArrival).  The result of this was the hit, ‘Rock Steady’ which went on to win the 2008 BEAT Music Award for “Best New Artist” and get nominated for the Urban Award at the 2009 Canadian Radio Music Awards.

Di’Ja was raised in Sierra Leone and Nigeria and is proud that the influences of Fela Kuti are among the sources of her musical inspiration.  Her other musical influences include Bob Marley, Marvin Gaye, Tracy Chapman, Diana Ross, Alicia Keyes, Beyonce, Madonna, Mary J Blige, and Tupac.

She will be performing at the Mother Africa and Her Talents show on May 21, 2011 in Washington DC.
